Is technology the key factor in determining why the ball is going where it is going?

The idea that technology does not play a key role in determining the ball's trajectory is an important concept in understanding golf. While technology, including advancements in club and ball design and analytical tools, can influence performance, the primary factors affecting where the ball goes are rooted in the player's mechanics and skill level.

The ball's trajectory and destination are significantly determined by factors such as the player’s swing mechanics, grip, stance, and swing path. The interaction between the clubface and the ball at impact, including the angle of attack and clubface angle, largely dictates the direction and distance of the shot.

While technology can provide insights and enhance training, it does not substitute for the fundamental skills a golfer must possess. Therefore, relying solely on technology to determine ball flight would overlook the most crucial aspects of golfing performance, which are the physical abilities and decisions made by the player.
